ABOUT THE MEDIA:
Gumtree launched in Australia in 2007 as a local classified ads and community site. Gumtree's aim is to give you a simple and easy-to-use tool that lets you quickly find what you are looking for. You can find everything you need to live your life with the help of your local Gumtree community; from that unique item at a bargain price to your dream machine car, a job or a flat, a nanny for your kids or a language teacher to help you learn that new language
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN – WHAT ADS WE RAN:
For this review, we ran the following campaigns:
- Advertising Coordinator
- Marketing Coordinator
- Recruitment Partner
Our Initial Findings:
- Whilst you can include either an email or URL in the application instructions, there are no links for candidates to follow
- There are fairly limited categories available to select from
HOW APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED:
You can include a URL or email at the end of the ad and it is up to people looking at the ad to follow the instructions.
QUANTITY OF CANDIDATES RECEIVED:
- Advertising Coordinator 0% of candidates came from Gumtree
- Marketing Coordinator 0% of candidates came from Gumtree
- Recruitment Partner 0% of candidates came from Gumtree
QUALITY OF CANDIDATES RECEIVED:
As we didn't any applications, quality cannot be measured!
WHAT WE LIKED:
- It's a cost effective option, at just $39 an ad
WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE:
- Gumtree didn't deliver a single application for our roles
- There is no option to include a link out, so you are reliant on candidates to read and follow the application instructions
- Formatting the ad is time consuming
Don't bother! Gumtree is well known as a marketplace, but does not deliver for jobs. Anecdotally, we have heard that it can perform well for finding freelancers and in some trades positions, but we haven't seen results for us or our clients. Spend your time and money elsewhere.
