Each month, Big Splash undertakes a review on an Australian media that can be used to place recruitment ads. EthicalJobs.com.au links people looking for an ethical job or career with employers who see their organisations as contributing to a more equitable, more just, or more sustainable world.

Job-seekers visiting EthicalJobs.com.au are people who are interested in work that contributes to a more sustainable or equitable world. These job seekers are diverse, at various stages of life, and come from non-profit, for profit and government sectors. Many are currently employed but like to keep a look-out for great jobs that might interest them.

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN – WHAT ADS WE RAN:

For this review, we ran the following adverts:

  • Support and Safety Hub Practitioner
  • Policy Officer
  • Program Worker

OUR INITIAL FINDINGS:

Ethical Jobs are passionate about maintaining the integrity of the jobs on their site and so have a manual approval process. They reserve the right to refuse to list any jobs that they don’t deem as “ethical”. This can slow the process down a little, but does benefit job seekers.  Jobs can be listed in up to three different categories, making it easy to get your opportunity in front of the right candidates.

HOW APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED:

There is no ‘apply now’ button on the site, so the ad content must include a specific call to action. Any email addresses or links to a careers site are hyperlinked. This does mean if your call to action directs to your careers site in general, it will not take them to the application form, meaning there will be more clicks for a candidate.

QUANTITY OF CANDIDATES RECEIVED:

  • Support and Safety Hub Practitioner        66% applicants from Ethical Jobs (3 hired)
  • Policy Officer                                             63% of applicants came from Ethical Jobs (4 Shortlisted)
  • Program Worker                                        32% of candidates came from Ethical Jobs (4 shortlisted)

QUALITY OF CANDIDATES RECEIVED:

Multiple applicants from each campaign were not only worth reviewing but were shortlisted and hired!

WHAT WE LIKED:

Ethical Jobs delivers well on both quality and quantity of candidates. Because it is targeted to people who are specifically looking for an “ethical job” it’s a fantastic choice for roles based in healthcare, NFP or similar.  It’s a cost effective option, with ads starting at just $162.50 + GST.

WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE:

The formatting is only basic HTML, which means the ad display quality is poor. The application process is not a totally streamlined experience for the candidate. 

OUR VERDICT:

If your role fits the qualifications for an “ethical job” then this job board is perfect. A cost-effective solution which provides quality candidates - more than worth it!
